Advantages And Disadvantages Of Lan Wan And Man

Advantages and disadvantages of lan wan and man

The Network allows computers to connect and communicate with different computers via any medium. LAN, MAN and WAN are the three major types of the network designed to operate over the area they cover. There are some similarities and dissimilarities between them. One of the major differences is the geographical area they cover, i.e. LAN covers the smallest area; MAN covers an area larger than LAN and WAN comprises the largest of all.
There are other types of Computer Networks also, like:
• Peer to Peer model
• Client-Server model
1.2 Local Area Network
It is also called LAN and designed for small physical areas such as an office, group of buildings or a factory. LANs are used widely as it is easy to design and to troubleshoot. Personal computers and workstations are connected to

If LANs are separated by a large distance then the WAN can be used. WANs are not limited to a single location. These networks are commonly connected through the telephone systems, satellites and leased lines. Internet is the best example for the WAN. It is the largest WAN.

1.3.1 Benefits of WAN
• Utilizes a large geographical area
• Shares resources with all connected workstations.
• Message delivery is quick among networked users.
• When a data file is updated the update is displayed to all users in the network.
• Data sharing can be done over a wide area.
• Easy to utilize.
• Same data can be used by everyone on the network.
• Can share files very quickly in the same network.
1.3.2 Constraints of LAN
• Difficult to setup.
• Highly technical skills are required to deploy.
• Highly expensive and is slow at deployment.
• Firewalls and high end security is needed to protect the network from external hackers.
• Deploying this type of networks takes lot of time and needs experience.
• Network maintenance is hard.

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Lan Wan And ManWanLan

The main difference between LAN, MAN and WAN is the scope and coverage of the networks. What Is The Difference Between Lan,man, wan? Computer Networks. Interesting question. LAN is Local Area Network. 10 years ago, that meant a network residing in a building. What Are The Advantages And Disadvantages Of LANs And WANs? The size of the WAN is larger than LAN and MAN. A WAN can cover country, continent or even a whole world. Internet connection is an example of WAN. Other examples of WAN are mobile broadband connections such as 3G, 4G etc.

Examples Of Lan And Wan

  1. LAN - File Server: Advantages: Centralized management: data is stored centrally on the server, the folders are also toshared account access management server. Increased security and data security in intranet. Data transfer rate higher. Cons: Investment in Higher Costs due to server systems.
  2. MAN is the abbreviation for Metropolitan Area Network and bigger than LAN network. It connects computer users that are in a specific geographical area. An example of MAN is your cable television or a large university. MAN’s data transmission speed is 5-10Mbps, which is faster and more expensive than LAN but slower and smaller than WAN.
  3. In this article, I am going to explain LAN MAN WAN, and the Differences Between LAN MAN and WAN and Advantages and Disadvantages of LAN, MAN, and WAN, and much more so keep reading this article till the end. What is LAN (Local Area Network)? LAN is the expanded form of the Local Area Network.
